Chayim Aruchim is a project established by Agudath Israel of America (aka the Agudah) by the leadership of Agudath Israel having received many calls for help which involved Jewish End of Life issues and questions about Jewish End of Life Values. In response, the leadership of Agudath Israel recognized the seriousness of this issue and how many difficult challenges there is involved in this i.e.v Halacha End of Life questions and Jewish End of Life Values that have to be seriously addressed and therefore it requires a complete devoted team of professionals. And Chayim Aruchim was established.

In order to guarantee that the patient receives all the treatment that Ìs required according to Halacha, Chayim Aruchim is leading the call to get every Jewish person to sign the "Halachic Medical Directive" it's a document in which the person basically states who should serve as their Jewish Health Care Proxy and by now Chayim Aruchim is the most sought after authority when a Jew wants to sign a Jewish Medical Directive or a Jewish Advance Directive that should comply with "Halacha" and Jewish values.

In its effort to find solutions, Chayim Aruchim established a relationship with MJHS and particular with Metropolitan Jewish Health System-MJHS Hospice and MJHS Palliative care to guarantee that their Jewish Hospice and their Jewish Palliative Care is really "Jewish" according to Halacha and that it complies with "Jewish law".
